Betty I think you have put your finger on it. The Council's Consultation is fatally flawed because many households and individual residents did not respond because they felt it would not affect them for reasons such as the fact that they personally do not have cars. Quite a few people in Chiswick rarely use their cars during the week and consequently just leave their cars where they are and don't have a problem parking them. The streets you mention are in the Stand on the Green area but I have not seen a breakdown of how residents responded. Evidently there are 115 prperties in Strand on the Green; replies were received from 54% of the properties. 30 of the responses were in favour of a CPZ; 20 of the responses were against a CPZ. That leaves 65 properties from which responses were apparently not received. 30 responses out of 115 in favour of a CPZ hardly constitutes a solid vote in favour of a CPZ in Strand on the Green. And the responses were from one person in each property and not from every resident. |
