For the reasons I've explained elsewhere on this thread the notion of building 'just' a car park on a brownfield site belongs in cloud cuckoo land. Just how does building a car park tie in with any concept of making the most efficient and effective use of previously developmed land or sustainable principles ?. I know I'm in the planning business (acting on behalf of both developers and residents who oppose applications) but it's when I read suggestions like this that my concerns about community empowerment come to the fore - if this was proposed as part of a Neighbourhood Development Plan the independent examiner would immediately point out that it was totally contrary to national planning policies and thus couldn't be supported, and thus lots of time and resources will be wasted on crazy pie in the sky notions that never see the light of day. |
