It was a good meeting and it was particulary good to see Councillor Sam Hearne there and to speak to him and Councillor Paul Lynch after the meeting. As Councillors wh0 will be involved in making the decision, they had to be careful not to express their personal views on the matter but Councillor Hearne certainly gave us useful information and guidance. The general consensus was that we wish to oppose any CPZ in Grove Park. The issue will be appraoched at various levels and in in different ways: 1. Simple rejection of the whole idea of a CPZ in Grove Park. We simly don't need one and we don't want one. 2. A more detailed case for rejecting a CPZ in Grove Park refuting the Council's arguments for a CPZ in detail. 3. On-line petitions. 4.A hardcopy petition against the CPZ to be collected by people walking the streets and knocking on doors. As many residents as possible should be asked to sign- not just one person per household. 5. Speaking to business people in Grove Park and convincing them that a CPZ and parking restrictions would be bad for business. 6. Speaking to people in the few streets where a majority of respondents have voted in favouir of a CPZ in an attemot to convince them that a CPZ is not the answer to their problems. 7. Lobbying councillors at every opportunity. All 9 Chiswick councillors should be emailed: Riverside Felicity.Barwood@hounslow.gov.uk Sam.Hearne@hounslow.gov.uk Paul. Lynch@hounslow.gov.uk Homefields Gerald.McGregor@hounslow.gov.uk Robert.Oulds@hounslow.gov.uk John.Todd@hounslow.gov.uk Turnham Green Samantha.Davies@hounslow.gov.uk Adrian.Lee@hounslow.gov.uk Peter.Thompson@hounslow.gov.uk 8. Posters and leaflets. We now have the nucleus of an organisation that will be able to further mobilise public opinion againsty the CPZ and preserve the distinctive village character of Grove Park. Well done Ronan Barry and others for organising the meeting. Let's meet on a regular basis from now on. |
