The Eastern end of Chesterfield Road is the same. Most of us are against, but one or two are in favour "becasue they want to be able to park outside thier house". I have already made the point in another post, but will make it again... a CPZ will not necessarily BUY them a parking place oustide their house (and lets not forget that they will have to pay for this - and over the years we could see the costs sky rocket). There is also, for example, a household at the Western end of the road who have off street parking for their one and only car, but are still in favour of the CPZ - why one asks? So that their friends, workmen, relatives CAN'T park easily when they come to stay for any period of time perhaps? "It's almost like they are saying, this is our road, we don't want anyone else using it." Totally agree. Just because we LIVE on a street does not, IMHO, give us exclusive rights to use it above those who work in the area, use the park, use the tennis clubs, church halls, doctors, dentists, vets etc, or just keep our local shops going by using them. |
