Please lets all reflect that the purpose of this exercise is to increase the revenues for LBH, not to aleviate our particular parking problems. If the residents of Elmwood Road REALLY believe that having a CPZ will enable them to park in front of their houses, they are sadly mistaken. I come from Ealing where after 15 years living in the one leafy street, the dreaded CPZ invaded. The result? In the ensuing 5 years no noticeable change in parking problems, but a steady and steep rise in the cost of permits, P&D and fines. Oh and the fines caused endless angry exchanges with wardens and the Council, and worries about visitors overstaying and getting caught in the 2 hours morning 2 hours afternoon traps. I now enjoy living here among the Grove Park family. I want it to stay that way. The P&D proposals for the shopping areas is just a way of forcing the cars that park there to park nearby and upset a wider circle of residents who would no doubt be more inclined to accept a CPZ in THEIR street as a consequence. Much like the Elmwood Road people, now. Wise up! the CPZ domino effect will creep street by street south of the A4 and East from Kew Bridge. It won't make an atom of difference to the parking problem. Just a nice little earner for LBH and handsomely paid work for the bureaucrats, who, if not promoting all these daft schemes, might actually be out of work. Now theres a nice thought. |
