I think that what is in question is the statistical significance of the minority favouring a CPZ. Supporters of a CPZ are not to be found in numbers on this forum; nor were there many in the audience last night (despite the venue being on Elmwood Road); and the interpretation of the survey evidence on which the council has proceeded so far, is controversial. It would be a shame if a CPZ was imposed (as seems likely), based on a misunderstanding of what the parking problems around here really are. While there is opportunistic commuter parking, I question how significant it is, in relation to the parking problems which no CPZ proposal will address. We need new solid evidence before anything is done; an actual traffic survey would be useful for starters. |
