“I still think however the some of the posts on this thread show how a fair sized proportion of the average person in the street has no concept of the realities/difficulties of either being a Councillor or a Council Officer.” Adam, this may or may not be the case. Personally, whilst I can’t profess to know of the difficulties, I can well imagine how difficult and extremely frustrating it must be to be doing ones best, only to receive hurls of criticism. A thankless job at times, no doubt, for people who decided to allocate much time to help/improve a community. Also, whilst the councillors of the Grove Park CPZ panel have come under fire from some for allegedly favouring the plan, those very same critics may also have favoured CPZ if they were in the position that the councillors are in, possibly facing huge pressures to proceed with the plan. Only the councillors, of course, know the size of any such pressures and where they are coming from; but this is not the problem of residents; they’re problem is the fear of an unwanted CPZ being proceeded with; and their only chance of preventing it is to make their feelings known and give good reasons as to why it should not proceed, and this they are doing; so, whilst it may seem harsh, it is somewhat irrelevant as to whether or not they have a concept of the difficulties of being a councillor or council officer. |
