The meeting was attended by the three Riverside councillors, Paul Lynch, Felicity Barwood, and Sam Hearn, with Cllr Robert Oulds in his capacity as Chair of the Chiswick Local Planning Committee (plus Satnam Sahota, the LBH Team Leader of Developments and Parking), and was independently chaired by Paul Lewis (not Sam Hearn as reported on the CW4 front page). Most of the talking from the front, apart from the Chair, was done by the LBH employee, Mr Sahota, and Cllr Oulds, who represents another part of Chiswick. Cllr Hearn, as has been mentioned, did speak; I think Cllr Lynch may have spoken briefly once; I don't think Cllr Barwood spoke at all. While appreciating that there is a need for the Riverside councillors to officially maintain an open mind on these matters, I found the fact that they left most of the responses to the others disappointing and regrettable. If they are not prepared to stand up in front of their constituents in a meeting such as this (and indeed it would have helped if anyone speaking from the front had stood when speaking, rather than remain seated, so that, as has been mentioned, the voice could have been more readily matched to the face), then one really wonders if we cannot do better next time they are up for election. |
