It has struck me that there is something very odd about this whole CPZ issue, and attitude of several councillors, including Clr Hearn, who seem to have already decided that a CPZ is to be implemented. The comments about mob rule are totally outrageous from a councillor who is meant to represent the front line of democracy in this country. A clear majority of Grove Park residents have rejected CPZs and yet this is now being ignored. And the b*llsh*t he has come out with about needed to reflect minority views. I am afraid in most democracies, small minorities do not get their way, and unlesss they are in some way being oppressed or victimised nor should they. These councillors really need to remember who voted them in and what their job is ie. representing the views and interests of the local area, not indulging their own prejudicies. The comments about a local developer funding the CPZ are interesting and demand a response. THe clear solution, at very little cost, is to remove some of the parking restrictions from the road north of the A4, where there are few houses and some limited commuter parking would not be a problem. Can the local councillors respond as to specifically why this cannot be done. |
