A lot ofthe streets in the Eastern cluster had a fairly low response rate, I think perhaps becasue they didn't feel that they had a problem! I live in one of the streets concerned and I have to say that it came as "news" to me that we had a problem - one serious enough to merit a CPZ anyway. I do accept that Elmwood Road has a problem, but I am not convinced that a CPZ will solve it for them as they could lose a LOT of parking spaces in the narrower parts of the road, on the corners etc. I still think that openining up some of the completely unused parking areas North of the A4 would be a better answer for them. Also, interestingly, the streets adjacent to Elmwood did NOT vote in favour, despite being just as conjested. From talking to people, I think that a significant number of people who initially thought that getting rid of the 'unwanted' cars was a great idea, or just didn't bother to vote at all, have now realised the implications and will vote against this time. |
