As we know, Elmwood Rd has some parking problems, apparently some of the worst in Grove Park. It’s been suggested by numerous people (and at least 3 times by Richard Greenhough) that Harvard Rd, across the A4, may be the key to help alleviate some of these problems. It’s alleged by some that much of Elmwood Rd’s problems began when Harvard Rd was included in a CPZ (possibly unnecessarily so). The non-resident cars parked in Elmwood Rd during the day are said to be owned by people commuting to the Chiswick High Rd area, who would probably park in Harvard Rd if they were able to. The majority of Harvard Rd has properties on just one side of the road, which, of course, suggests that this may leave parking places for non-residents. One part of the road is so wide that the residents’ parking bays have been angled to give an even greater span of parking in that area. The council/councillors tell us that they’d like to resolve parking problems such as those being experienced in Elmwood Rd. Harvard Rd is just 300m away and nearer Chiswick High Rd, where the ‘offenders’ are said to be coming from. However, I’ve not seen one response from the council or a councillor in respect of peoples’ comments about Harvard Rd, and whether or not Harvard Rd could be used to help reduce some of the problems in Elmwood Rd. I took a drive to Harvard Rd this morning at about 10.45am. Here’s what I saw: ![]() ![]() ![]() About 50/60 free parking spaces on the non-resident side and ample spare spaces on the side where there are properties. All CPZ. |
