"I appreciate the efforts put in by yourself and other councillors. However, the quote "As I have said on this forum before - a mature democracy is not one in which the views of the majority always wins out at the expense of others. If this is not immediately obvious to most readers of this thread .... I apologise." is something where I appreciate the apology but this is not a situation where the views of the minority should necessarily have any particular weight as no-one is seriously suffering/ We are talking about a CPZ not ongoing crime in a particular area. Consideration of a CPZ is undoubtedly something where the majority opinion SHOULD prevail. If not here, then where?" I agree. There are some things which are essential, which have to go somewhere and the burdon must be shared. Half way houses, schools, power transformers, sewage. If residents could veto these things, they wouldn't be able to go anywhere. So councils must make some unpopular decisions. CPZ misses that mark by a long way :) Mark |
