Firstly I must say I am totally against CPZ's, and having said that I want to try and explain why. But I am beginning to feel rather sad more than upset at all these messages going backwards and forwards (but I understand why it has to be done, and it must be done) and thank you to all those dedicated neighbours who are doing the rounds checking on spaces, which the Council should be doing! Secondly, may I be so presumptuous as to perhaps remind us all why we came to live here in this beautiful, unspoilt, friendly, safe, villagey area., where people, up to now, haven't fought with each other! Trust an outside influence to change it all!! We have lived here for 30yrs in the same house, and yes, there are more people living here now (one can understand why people want to live here) and yes, there are more cars, they come with the people, of which we can do nothing. But in all that time our beautiful area has been mostly untouched. We are all so very privileged to be able to live here, and I feel so much more concerned with the state of our roads, paths, closures of our libraries, the possible closing of the Chiswick Day Centre and many more things that the Council, no doubt, will be closing due to cut backs, than installing CPZ's for the very small minority who want them. Nevertheless the Council has picked up on those few, against the majority, and are determined, I think, to put the CPZ in place. So the area will be “adorned” with ugly signs, yellow and white lines which, may I remind you, will take away even more parking spaces! I love this whole neighbourhood and I want what's best for us (unfortunately in life not everything is fair) but if I thought for one moment CPZ's would help the area I would be voting for them. But THEY WILL NOT HELP, you only have to read/speak to people who live in CPZ's – they are on the forum, please read what those people say. Then think about the cost over which we have no influence. We have heard how the costs spiral year upon year for those living within CPZ's. No wonder the Council has picked up on the few. IT IS A HUGE benefit to them in revenue, year upon year, which is why they want to implement CPZ's. But also think of the cost to you, which will also spiral year upon year, family and friends who want to visit will be charged, it just goes on and on. So much better if we become more considerate, kind neighbours to one another. Give your car space up for maybe someone who needs it more, and walk from the top of the road, exercise is good!! For those very few neighbours who think CPZ's will benefit them, please re-think, as the neighbourhood YOU CHOSE TO LIVE IN will be forever changed and you will paying for it forever. |
