Ah, that makes sense. It's one thing to have a queue that regular road users on fast moving roads get to know to expect, but more dangerous (IMHO) to have a situation when most of the time there isn't a queue, but suddenly you get one. With Weltje Road feeding cars onto the A4 who often have to accelerate quickly to join the A4 when it's busy, the cycleway has caused an unanticipated problem. Given the cycleway isn't going to get removed, restricting traffic going into Rivercourt from the A4 is the sensible thing to do. In a few weeks/months, the current issues with drivers coming off the A4 going into Rivercourt and then perhaps trying to rejoin the A4 when they realise they can't use Rivercourt will also disappear. |
