The numbers may show high traffic flows but that doesn't mean in the 30 or so seconds the junction is in sight as I pass either way, there will be a vehicle coming out of it. This may be less common since the restrictions but I don't notice a huge difference. Traffic is likely to occur in pulses as vehicles are released from lights further west on the A4. The main change for me is that I approach the junction with greater care as any vehicle on King Street going east or west may choose to turn across my path, so basically the same caution that was always advisable at the Weltje junction or any of the others that vehicles can turn in to. My impression is that most of the traffic turning into Rivercourt from King Street is connected with the three schools nearby. Putting a bollard at the A4 end wouldn't solve that problem. I still don't understand why the new restrictions couldn't have been introduced with one way operation being retained. |
