I'm slightly reminded of the old tale about trappist monks in a refectory holding up numbers to represent a joke. They laugh politely until someone holds up the number 48 when they split their sides and it is explained they haven't heard that one before. Your responses on this forum aren't as varied as the monks' joke book. They boil down to two: 1) I dismiss what you are telling me because you don't have statistical evidence to back it, 2) I dismiss what you are telling me because the statistical evidence you give to support what you say is flawed. If you are passing the Rivercourt Road junction every day you cannot failed to have noticed a steady stream of vehicles emerging from the road onto King Street. That this may have fallen to a degree from the situation before is irrelevant as the whole point of the scheme was to reduce the risk for cyclists reducing use of this junction to a minimum. It is self evident that this has not been the outcome as five minutes' observation, let alone an hour will show. If there has been any benefit from a reduction in the number of cars coming out of Rivercourt, this has been wiped out by the risk increase of cars being allowed to cross the junction from King Street. You perhaps deserve some credit for consistency in dismissing the evidence of your own eyes as well as those of others. |
