Michael, as your recollection of what I have written on this forum is better than mine, I will have to accept your word that is what I said although, if I did, I must have been drunk. Now sober I would say that all the evidence shows that risk on roads is at junctions and, by shifting where more vehicles cross C9 from King Street To Chiswick High Road, H&F Council has moved the risk in our direction. I take the point that signalisation may reduce risk but you have to accept this is negated by widespread disregard for red lights at both the Chiswick Lane and Dukes Avenues junctions. There have been serious collisions at both locations over the last two years so, while we are not at the level of carnage seen at Weltje Road, it would be complacent to assume that no more people are going to be badly injured at these junctions. As for my predictions, we are literally discussing on this thread a measure that is a response to one of them being, sadly, accurate. I and others predicted the sharp rise in injuries to cyclists. I'm not sure where you find humour in this issue. |
