I'm really struggling to understand the thinking behind this measure. Sure, vehicles emerging out of Rivercourt Road and laying across the cycle lane are a pain. The problem is made worse by the tree just to the west of the junction which means drivers may not see you coming until the last moment.

Compared to Weltje Road, there have been fewer collisions at Rivercourt because the real danger to cyclists is motorists turning off King Street. By making Rivercourt Road two way this new risk is increased. Not only will it become a drop off point for schools, when the new cinema is opened at the Town Hall site, it will be a handy place to park in the evening.
