I'll bow to your superior knowledge of traffic modelling but it seems to me that some sort of impact analysis should have been done before embarking on this change. The danger is clearly that H&F will become too fond of the revenue stream it provides to be unduly concerned about problems developing in another borough. It was a surprise that H&F have made these changes on Rivercourt rather than Weltje which is where more of the serious injuries have occurred. As someone has pointed out already, the risk of collision is higher when a vehicle is crossing into a side road rather than emerging so making Rivercourt two way has actually increased the potential for this to happen. This is hard to explain if it is being claimed the main motivation here is a reduction in injuries to cyclists. |
