Francis, Traffic modelling has limitations. Models can be a simulation of a particular road layout or signal timings. TfL will have models of linked signals and there will be models of overall forecast traffic demand taking into account economic and other factors such as ULEZ. I’m not aware of modelling being done of an area of many square km of London roads taking into account all streets and junctions and every possible route for vehicles. You will have no difficulty generating long lists of unanswerable questions but the point of a temporary traffic order is to do things in the real world and find out. Models can have some use sometimes but they aren’t a substitute for the real world. Your questions are typical of the delaying tactics we see again and again when there changes proposed making it more difficult to drive. My prediction is that LBHF will also be closing off access to the A4 via Weltje Rd at some time so we will see what happens when they do that too. Hounslow won’t object because LBHF are doing the same thing that Hounslow has also done for streets in Hounslow afflicted by ratrunning. |
