It has to be said that there is a degree of callousness in not having sympathy with anyone hit by a double whammy of fines at this point. The sums involved may be a trifle for you but would probably wipe out the day's take home for a self employed delivery driver. H&F seem to have employed the ambiguous sign trick to catch tens of thousands of drivers around Wandsworth Bridge Road and someone turning off the A4 will have multiple things to be aware of which will make instantly understanding a complex instruction difficult. If they mistakenly go into Rivercourt Road and are immediately faced with a turning circle, it seems inevitable that some will misinterpret the intention of the restriction. The bigger concern here would not be loss to low income drivers but the potential for a collision between a car emerging from Rivercourt Road with one trying to turn in. I haven't seen the signage at this spot to judge how likely this is to happen but if the council has erred on the side of ambiguity to maximise revenue, then they are playing a dangerous game. |
