Francis, there have been no DfT counts at that point since 2018! You’re quoting derived estimates, and while they are used to calculating aggregate counts at the Borough level, you cannot rely on them for individual count points. But we do have actual TfL counts, both as an annual series since 2015 and as an hourly series at multiple points since 2021. Both show a very significant increase in cycling numbers, with counts reaching over 3400 a day in the 2023 annual series compared to just over 2000 prior to the pandemic. The daily series shown counts topping 4000 a day. You have failed to read what has been written about bidirectional cycle routes not just by Michael but by anyone who has followed the subject in any detail. They can deliver considerable improvements in safety but only if clear design principles are followed such as stepped back intersections and raised entries. In fact C9 is a test case, with an initial increase in collisions along the stretch from Chiswick Lane to Goldhawk Road that later dropped away once the measures above were implemented. That you ignore or have forgotten about what others have written does not make them wrong! |
