The question remains however how two way operation would slow traffic on Rivercourt Road if a car going north is vanishingly rare (which I don't believe it is). Anyone who cycles on Rusthall or St Alban's Avenue will recognise the fallacy in H&F's thinking. With enough width for only one vehicle cars tend to accelerate on the straight bit to avoid coming into conflict with another one coming in the opposite direction. I often have to move out towards the centre of the road to make them slow down as they career towards me. |
