| Peter, there's nothing "speculative" in concluding that restriciting traffic on Weltje and Rivercourt roads would significantly reduce the number of injury collisions to cyclists on C9 as well as for motorists on the A4. On the stretch of C9 from Heathfield Terrace to Chiswick Lane that has been open continuously from December 2020 to September 2022 accident rates for cyclists have dropped by 25% and there are no unsignalled junctions on that stretch which carry significant traffic. Overall we can conclude that C9's bidirectional cycle lane has increased cycle numbers significantly without leading to increased injury collision rates except at a limited number of junctions where there is substantial unsignalled traffic crossing it. That is right in line with previous research from the Netherlands. |
