| I know the car lobby would love to have the narrative over how to manage urban space all to themselves but we haven't got to where we are today by allowing that have we? Differences between Boroughs and their demographics and traffic flows and volumes are very far from irrelevant. They are massively important factors in the way that decisions are made. You have to have a very limited mind to fail to understand that. You are right about one thing - you won't get what you want. Whereas it is highly likely that I will continue to do so because it is widely recognised at all levels that we have to radically transform road transport. Naturally cycling campaigners are going to be one of the main beneficiaries of this and car drivers one of the main losers. That it pains you and the other local curmudgeons who can't abide change so much isn't as important as the positive outcomes for net zero, clean air, safer streets and active travel but it will nonetheless never cease to be pleasing. |
