Weltje Road when it was suggested access be restricted during the design meetings for the Cycle Superhighway. Presumably it is TfL objection that stops access to the A4 at Dukes Avenue being closed. The evidence suggests that TfL don't have a one-size-fits-all policy for this kind of thing. Obviously if restricting access to a road boosts the quality of life of the people living in it and doesn't cause them undue convenience they are going to consider it. However, this would always have to be considered alongside where traffic is being displaced to. The roads that you describe as arterial have more people living on them than the roads that would be closed so there is rarely a clear distinction or an easy solution. |
