| Mark you are quite right, there are displacement effects that are often studiously ignored or downplayed. None of this is to be 'anti' CS9 and most were existing issues that have seen a further impact, but its important to have some honesty on the implications. Looking at TFL jam cams you often now see heavy congestion approaching Hammersmith flyover on the A4 as the approach the gyratory along Hammersmith Bridge Road gets heavily congested. Traffic flows around the gyratory have been impacted by CS9 and changes to light phasing. We also see more congestion around Hogarth roundabout as lihgt phasing has altered to accomodate increased traffic flows up the A316/ Burlignton Lane due to GP road closures. This leads to more blocking of A4 eastbound caused by traffic queueing to turn right to reach Burlington southbound. For W4 we do see as a result more traffic using Chiswick Lane, but more the Heathfield Gardens cut through up from the A4 rather than Sutton Court Road. So you end up with more traffic on residential streets and crossing the non-segrated route of CS9. There is already too much traffic on these routes. |
