| If you accept what he wrote at face value - difficult I know - he is saying that the Tories do not have any policies which are based on solid foundations. His damning description of the leader: "Although you have many positive qualities you have three, superficiality, unreliability and an apparent lack of any clear convictions, which in my view ought to exclude you from the position of national leadership" The differences between the two parties, in solid policy terms, is now so slight I don't see any issue with MPs switching from one horse to the other. An analogy would be a fan changing allegiance from Tottenham to Arsenal. They are, after all, both North London football teams so why not? The betrayal would never be forgiven by the Tottenham fans or fully trusted by the Arsenal fans (though they would relish the act in itself). |
