" Actually, it's slightly different. In the last election the public voted on the basis that Tony Blair had stated he would stay for the full term. As we now know, that statement did not reflect his intentions. Had the public known that, they would have voted on the basis that Gordon Brown would likely take over from Tony Blair mid-term. Whether or not that would have affected their actual voting behaviour is not known, but it does still leave the issue about a lack of transparency from Tony Blair on his intentions. |
