| I believe MPs were successful in their attempt to exempt themselves from the Freedom of Information Act. There can be no excuse for the opt out other than deception and back covering. The sad truth is the corruption of the Thatcher years never left politics; it just became the corruption of the Blair years. The only real difference is that Maggie had the fore site to hide (sorry look after) the paperwork of her time in office, by setting up the Thatcher Institute and putting her crooked son in charge. In years to come Tony and his cronies may regret that he did not do the same for the paperwork of his administration. Perhaps he felt a little pot smoking was not the right criminal grounding for his son to take on the job. It does not really compare with arms dealing and attempting to overthrowing nations does it. The sad truth is that British politics is as corrupt as any ‘banana republic’ and our populace to apathetic to have the kind of revolutionary purge that would be required to rid the nation of the liars cheats and thieves that sit in our houses of parliament. |
