| The teaming of Blair and Brown is not unexpected in most peoples eyes given the dog and pony show they have run for over a decade now (beautifully captured in in "The Rivals" by James Naughtie of Radio 4 fame). However the more appropriate teaming on this issue of bad preparation and after care for military servicemen is Blair and Hoon. The latter is one of the saddest examples of a true Blairite whose inability to take a stand on anything beyond self preservation is a sad example of the errors of the "Third Way". How UN operations were subverted in Afghanistan from the normal peacekeeping missions they were established to tackle to pursuing Taliban and drug warlords who would not support the US approach, remains a mystery to me. |
