| Micheal, I have been self employed since the age of 21, (some 26years) having spent some time as one of the 'three million' unemployed. Currently I am the MD of a limited company that will have been operating for ten years come October the first. As for when Thatcher came to power, she ushered in the greed culture from which this country is still suffering. She created a situation of class hostility that resulted in riots in the streets of our nation. The assets of the nation secured via nationalisation by My fathers generation (those who went through the World Wars)for the benefit of future generations (our children and their children)were stolen from the public and sold back to those lucky few with cash to spare at the time. Most of these then sold on their shares for their extra 'handful of silver' and with no concern over where 'ownership' of this nations resources ended up. Then the Myth of public benefit from the privatisation of all council run services due to councils being able to choose via competitive tendering came about. The truth is another slice came out of the cake, there appears to be only one company that gets council contracts, the services provided seem to continue to be cut while company directors cars, homes, holidays just get bigger and better. Last but not least lets remember how many young poeple died due to her poor understanding of the Falklands. Lets not forget those burned and horribly injured due to her incompetence, lets not forget those mentally scarred having found out the people they killed taking gun emplacement were often 15 year old kids conscripted into the army and left to fend for themselves when the main troops were mostly removed from the Island before the British got there. They were going to be needed on the mainland as the junta tried to maintain control. In closing I am not lazy nor failing 'to thrive in an atmosphere of individual responsibility' far from it but, yes I am bitter over a nation robbed financially and spoilt socially by the vested interest of the Thatchers and their ilk. |
