| The number of unemployed people in Britain has increased by over 100,000 since the start of the year, according to official Government figures. Data shows that there are now a total of 1.7 million unemployed in the country – 0.3 per cent higher than at the end of 2006. During the first quarter of the year, 145,000 people were made redundant, up 15,000 from the previous three months and the highest figure for 12 months |
