| My point isn't whether there are more *stupid* cyclists than *stupid* drivers. It's that in *encouraging* more people to ride bicycles, more especially people who might not have wanted to ride them otherwise, all that's doing is putting an additional percentage of *stupid* cyclists on the road. That fact that even the most *stupid* cyclists will be protected from themselves, and made to feel *safe* by riding up and down from Brentford to Olympia every day past the tree stumps on CS9, will be of little consolation to the other *stupid* cyclists who being encouraged, supposedly by their example, and feeling similarly *safe*, will launch themselves onto the remaining 420km of roads in LB Hounslow. Only to then possibly suffer the consequences of their own stupidity. michael adams |
