| The discussion was about enforcing the rules on cyclists carrying lights after dark. I'm in favour - I agreed with Steve that they were morons because they're invisible on the roads. I don't know Tom's position, but he's pointed out that it is a legal requirement and there has been some enforcement in the past - it sounds like he's in favour, but I'll let him clarify. David suggested that there is no enforceable law on lights and linked it to high viz for some reason. I'm not sure exactly what his point was, but I think he's mistaken. He can clarify if he thinks that's unfair. Yes - sometimes we need laws to get people to do sensible things - like wear seat belts, not use a phone while driving, not drive at unsafe speeds, ensure their car is properly maintained or carry lights on their bikes after dark. |
