| The rate of cyclists fatalities per km cycled dropped overall last year because there WAS an overall improvement in infrastructure that was rapidly deployed mostly in urban areas. There was little put in on rural A roads where fatalities per km increased. Infrastructure makes a significant difference because it is deployed where there are the most cyclists, and the most collisions. That is why while cycling has grown significantly in London, the fatality rate per km has fallen, even though most roads remain unprotected. For Hounslow, the most used route with the most collisions is Chiswick High Road. |
