| Here is what Penny actually said about the current scheme: "I totally agree that the timings of the new measures are unhelpful and ineffective and would welcome a more pedestrian friendly road. I think there are talks to build out the pavement where outside seating is to make it safer, more attractive and more useable. The fact that the current measures are not enforced is down to the council not the traders, but as I said I think timings could be better. I think there is a balance to be found, it is not at all my view that cars are king and that there shouldn't be restrictions but of course sometimes they are just needed I also totally accept that thriving hospitality businesses are good for us all along Devonshire Road and totally agree that at present there Devonshire Road is confused and not fulfilling it's potential, however it is far from Demise!!." |
