| Paul, Top Hat is now under new ownership. The comments you post here targeting them are unfair since they were never in the road when such decisions were made. I think the attitude of potentially dancing on graves of businesses who may not pull through these tough times is really rather distasteful. I totally agree that the timings of the new measures are unhelpful and ineffective and would welcome a more pedestrian friendly road. I think there are talks to build out the pavement where outside seating is to make it safer, more attractive and more useable. The fact that the current measures are not enforced is down to the council not the traders, but as I said I think timings could be better. I think there is a balance to be found, it is not at all my view that cars are king and that there shouldn't be restrictions but of course sometimes they are just needed I also totally accept that thriving hospitality businesses are good for us all along Devonshire Road and totally agree that at present there Devonshire Road is confused and not fulfilling it's potential, however it is far from Demise!!. I am a resident in Devonshire Road too and so I can see things through business owner glasses as well as a resident's. I do however resent a loud, dare I say it condescending voice a: deciding what is best for MY business and b: untruths and extreme views represented as fact instead of opinion. |
