| The Chiswick Conservative Councillors under the indefatigable leadership of Councillor Biddolph campaigned hard to create Dry Cleaning World, a paradise in which SUV drivers are free to drop off fifteen superking-sized duvets at Top Hat before zooming on to pick up some crates of dog food from the pet shop and happily flying on through the residential roads beyond. Their supporters celebrated their victorious campaign on this very forum and scoffed at the people who lamented the short-sighted grubbiness of their vision for the street and the inevitable consequences for hospitality businesses who had been enjoying the increased footfall and lingering customers enjoying a pedestrianised street. The traders of Devonshire Road have got what they asked for and what they deserve. |
