| The reason for my initial post was to simply say not all is as suggested by some posts in this thread and in fact we have 2 shops empty and not many as has been suggested. One has been let I believe and the other is undergoing works . Nearly all of the shops are run by their dedicated owners. I don’t personally see traffic jams and congestion along Devonshire Road and see many people sitting along the street on good weather days enjoying the hospitality businesses. It is quieter at the moment but in the many years we have been here I have seen this happen every summer when people escape to second homes or go on holiday. We are also facing a cost of living crisis , on top of Brexit and the lingering effects of Covid which all makes for challenging times for all of us but especially to small business owners and I really am proud of this road and the people in it. We have wonderful customers who I often talk to about all of these issues and some times we have different views but usually we can listen to each other and and even concede that our view point needs tweaking! . I hope people can see just how much people who work in this little road do care. |
