| Paul, independent of any effects from Hammersmith Bridge, a differential reduction of 16% of traffic in one year on a major artery into Chiswick is extremely significant. The traffic counts for all of the other major roads though Chiswick, the A4, Chiswick High Road, the North Circular or Kew Bridge Road don’t come even close to such a relative reduction in over two decades. And of course that means we collectively suffer from less pollution. And there’s really no doubt what has caused this: the restrictions on Hartington Road have simply meant fewer drivers choosing to use Chiswick as a rat run, as the traffic counts there confirm. As the data comes in from around London, other boroughs are sure to follow suit. |
