| The hope was that discussion wouldn't revert to arguments that have been gone over many times which revolve around different interpretations of inadequate statistics but that seems to be forelorn. The question that it would be good to have answered is whether or not it is sound policy from a public health perspective to concentrate pollution in particular residential areas. It may be that it doesn't matter that much, given the general improvement in emission levels from road vehicles so even the highest readings for harmful gases and particulates have a limited impact. The people who would be able to give some insight on this are not those with a fixed mindset about the merits or otherwise of LTNs but those who suffer from respiratory conditions or who care for those who do. |
