| Tom, so thanks for confirming the steer report is comparing Pre COVID with COVID impacted travel. LHR in May 2021 was just 10% of May 2019 traffic, a good indictor of how much normal life was disrupted, from lack of travel to WFH etc. Its very hard to conclude anything at all from such a comparison. As for the impact of LTNs, the simple answer is it will vary. The whole point of GP restriction was to stop through traffic heading to the A4/ Chiswick roundabout. Local residents and regular users can see how much worse the traffic is on the A316 is, and the left turn at Hogarth a particular bottleneck. More green time for this traffic has worsened A4 queues. Some of that GP traffic will sit in queues, others divert via Kew bridge or replan journeys. The impact of these queues diverting more traffic into W4 is not addressed. When there are no traffic cameras and no pollution monitors its very easy to pretend problems dont exist. |
