| Many legal ebikes have a bios in the handlebar computer. Many require just holding in one brake pedal, hitting an up and down on the dissplay and you're into the bios. Most ebikes with an onboard display can change a legal 15mph bike to around 20-22mph. A legal 250w motor puts bursts of power out to reach that 15mph and cuts out until it needs topping up lets say. Changing the bios can give you a continuous output, and the capped 250W motor can give you around 22mph top speed. More powerful motors become illegal from the start, but a legal 250W motor can be overridden in seconds and can be put back to legal in seconds. |
