| It's interesting to hear varied experiences on pedestrianised areas. Either unpleasant due to large crowds, or Janice's account of people not visiting them at all. The pedestrianised areas I frequent the most are around Tottenham Court Road, Covent Garden, Soho, and some parts south of Oxford Street. I'd be interested to know which areas you both refer to so that I can compare. Maybe the design and layout is quite different. The pavements in Richmond are already overcrowded to the point of being very awkward and frustrating to navigate. I can't personally see how pedestrianising areas such as George Street would make it more crowded. Surely it will give shoppers more space to move around, and thus make it a more pleasant shopping and sightseeing experience? |
