Are we using the same definition of quaintness, Janice?

I understand it as meaning a nostalgic look at simpler, more tradition times, in which case I would argue that pedestrianising the centre would do exactly that.

Considering it's been a shopping destination since the 18th century, I don't see how heavy traffic passing through makes it quaint?
