| However, many lights for pedestrian only crossings across London, eg at Richmond station, turn red for traffic within seconds of a pedestrian pressing the button. All to often the button needn’t have been pressed because there is ample time for pedestrians to cross the road safely. It’s common practice for many to simply press the button without even looking up from their mobile phones to even check if it’s necessary!! And many wouldn’t dream of quickening their pace to avoid unnecessary traffic hold ups. |
