| The LTNs obviously force more cars to use the arterial roads, also used by buses, so it stands to reason that motorised traffic will be slowed down. Remove the LTNs and you ease the traffic flow on arterial roads. The disastrous bus islands, deemed by the government to be dangerous, would probably have been removed if the government had sufficient funds to prop up TfL again. Hence they made the responsible decision to ban further construction. I don’t believe this is catastrophisation if lives are at stake. It’s a sensible and logical decision. Perhaps the next government will find the funds to support total removal of them. |
