So just to be doubly clear, we are now accepting the fact that delays have increased on Chiswick High Road? Even if it is as low just one minute, this is not marginal as it is a daily average and obviously most vehicles using the road will be using it when it is busier so the typical delay will be much higher. You have impressively demonstrated that while vehicles generally are undoubtedly moving more slowly, the experience of the average person may not be the same as most people travelling along the High Road are on a bus. While I don't totally discount this possibility, you are basing the claim on snap shots of data that may be unrepresentative and has provided numbers which look perplexing. Nevertheless, it is entirely possible that you are right and Mark Evans gave some explanations earlier on in this thread such as improved traffic signal technology and delays to general traffic being largely caused by the lack of ability to overtake buses which would explain it. Slower moving non-bus traffic is something we can live with but slower buses is a problem. On the limited data we have, it appears that there is a possibility the changes of the last few years have not had as big an impact on bus times as originally feared but we'd need more data than has been provided so far to say that with confidence. |
