Apologies. What some are trying to do is to link the slowing of buses to the Cycleway, hence the reference to narrower roads. Although congestion and delays have increased significantly on the High Road since the cycleway has been put in place, there doesn't seem to have been as big an impact on buses despite the removal of some bus lanes. This seems odd but perhaps is explained by non-bus traffic being slowed to the speed of buses due to the lack of availability to overtake and some compensating bus priority measures at traffic lights and the Acton Lane bus gate. The likely fall in the number of vehicles rerouted by SatNavs has also probably limited the impact on buses. One route where there has been an impact is the 190 northbound which is being held up longer at the junction with CHR presumably to keep traffic on that road flowing better. Just recently, I and others have noticed that the phases on CHR for the Chiswick Lane junction have got much shorter which may be an attempt to speed up Chiswick Lane which is likely to be seeing more traffic due to the Rivercourt Road restriction in Hammersmith. Whether this is enough to result in a slowdown in bus journey times on CHR remains to be seen. |
